Nothing Says "Glam" Like The Oscars

Check out these photos from the Oscars After Party. Aubergine and chartreuse florals were designed to look as if they're growing out of the glass cocktail tables, and an impressive 120 foot LED chandelier was installed into the ballroom!

The production of the chandelier alone must have been an extensive process, not to mention the 18' Oscar Award statues throughout the space. We're always inspired by the grandeur and extravagance of events in Hollywood, and always look forward to creating the WOW! effect here in Syracuse and throughout Central New York.

2012 Wedding Season Highlight: An Island Affair

Last season’s most logistically challenging nuptials took place across two islands in the 1000 Islands, near Alexandria Bay. Everything for the reception had to be delivered to the islands by barge!
Six hundred guests were shuttled to the party via Uncle Sam Boat Tours and enjoyed dinner and entertainment under an 80’ x 130’ tent. The apple green décor complimented the blue water of the St. Lawrence and the summer wedding featured a Cigar and Brandy bar, cocktails on the boathouse deck, and a sunset like no other.
Having an outdoor or tented wedding adds another layer to logistical planning. Suddenly power needs, water sourcing, bathroom facilities, permits, and parking become added factors to consider. MarrymeNY is a division of The Events Company, and whether you’re inviting 600 or 60, our design, production, planning, and Day-Of Management services will ease your anxiety on the big day.

Wedding Tip: Open Bar vs. Consumption Bar

Determining the best option for offering alcoholic beverages to your guests can be like walking a mine field.

The Open Bar price is where you pay a set dollar amount per guest, no matter how much they drink. Unless you're throwing a fraternity bash, the majority of your guests will not consume that dollar amount.

Your better option is to opt for a Consumption Bar where you only pay for the drinks actually ordered by your guests.

Cheers!

Not Your Traditional Wedding Dessert

This year's 5 Wedding Dessert Trends Beyond the Cake include donuts, cute mini pies, and dainty macaroons in all sorts of fun colors. We love these fresh takes on the traditional wedding cake, and you can still have a smaller cutting cake for that special moment during the reception.

We've created many dessert displays with all sorts of fun confections including candy, cookies, chocolate covered potato chips... you name it! We had one international couple who lived in London, and the bride was from Syracuse while the groom was from Australia. At their wedding we incorporated unique candy brands from each country and guests loved sampling all of the foreign treats.

Our dessert buffets come with your requested treats, our suggestions, and a killer display with containers and decor elements to enhance your theme. To learn more about our services, stop by our 2,000 square foot showroom and you and your fiance can enjoy a (Hershey) kiss from our display!

Color Trend Prediction: Fifty Shades of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey was definitely a major hit in 2012 and there is no doubt in our minds that we will continue to see fifty shades of grey play a major role in wedding décor in 2013. Paired with other neutrals or a pop of color, grey is becoming more and more versatile and desired. Whether it is a dark charcoal or a light aluminum, this once considered dreary color is lighting up the party from floral inspiration to linens!

2013 Style Trend Prediction: Lace

We've always seen lace as a design trend for wedding dresses, but in 2013 we are predicting lace to be quite a style trend throughout the entire wedding. Lace will be seen on invitations, wrapped around votive candles, as linens, as menu and place card details, and even worked into the design of the cake. We can also expect to see a lot of lace paired with neutrals this year, giving weddings a soft and sweet vibe. Going for a rustic themed wedding, but don't want to lose the romantic feel? Pair lace with burlap! This classic beauty is making a come-back and pairing up quite nicely with many color combinations and design trends.

2013 Color Trend Prediction: Green

Green is the new black! With Pantone announcing emerald as the 2013 color of the year, we can expect to see this bold beauty paired with ivory, black, other jewel tones and even lighter shades of green such as jade and mint. This color can be worn any season and make a bold statement at your wedding. Mint is also making its way to the headlines. This soft shade of green gives weddings a sweet and sophisticated vibe and can be paired with a plethora of complementary colors, making it an even more desirable color to incorporate in your wedding design.

2013 Style Trend Prediction: Patterns

The saying, “out with the old and in with the new,” couldn't be more relevant for weddings and events in 2013. If you were one of the lucky ladies who rang in the New Year with some new bling, you’ll be pleased to know that this is the year for vibrant colors and sophisticated styles. The wedding industry is seeing more and more creative color combinations as well as style trends and we couldn't be more excited to share them with you this week!

As they sweep the runway, and our Pinterest boards, we can expect to see plenty of patterns this year. After revealing their versatility in 2012, chevron, stripes, paisley and even polka dots will be making a stronger appearance at weddings in 2013. From invitations to linens, these patterns will give your wedding the “wow” factor and create the perfect eye candy for your guests. We can also expect to see more patterns throughout wedding attire. Floral bridesmaid dresses and striped ties will mix up the traditional look we are so used to seeing. Patterns are playful and offer endless possibilities when it comes to décor, but remember less is more. Done right, they can really bring the entire look of your wedding together, but don’t overdo it!

DISASTER AVERTED!

Derek and Olivia woke up on the morning of their August wedding with a forecast of tornado force winds. Our team arrived early on site with fears of the weather, and called the client with a report. Their tent had collapsed, their alfresco lighting was tangled and broken, and their chiavari chairs were strewn about. With only hours until the nuptials, the planners at MarrymeNY secured a new venue nearby, altered the décor design, and began loading in to create this breathtaking space. Derek and Olivia continued to get ready for their nuptials exactly as planned while our planners handled the crisis.

The value of our services was most noted by the guests and relatives who had given the couple a bit of grief over hiring a wedding professional. In the end they couldn't imagine what would have been done without the experts at MarrymeNY. For us, it was easy because of the depth and breadth of our relationships. With a few quick phone calls we went from disaster to dynamite!

MarrymeNY is the bridal division of The Events Company, and our highly flexible planners are here to ease your anxiety on the big day. Call today to set up an appointment with one of our planners and learn more about all of our Day-Of Management Services. To see more of our work, visit our website and follow us on Facebook!
